The Tony Hawk skateboarding series turned Activision into the largest videogame publisher in the world. With the release of the fifth in the series, Tony Hawk’s Underground, Activision needed a huge seller that would reverse recent sales declines for the franchise and allow a sixth installment.
By showing another side of Tony Hawk, we refreshed the franchise and Tony Hawk’s Underground sold well above the previous release, making Tony Hawk the #1 action sports franchise that year, allowing the release of Tony Hawk’s Underground 2.
